What you need to know
- Apple Pay support is now live in Israel.
- Users can pay via Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Is your bank online?
Apple Pay is now live for Israeli banks for the first time, as reported by The Verifier. While contactless payments were always available for those traveling internationally, this is the first time that banks based in Israel have offered Apple Pay support for their own debit and credit cards.
Customers of banks that are now online will be able to add their cards to the Wallet app on their iPhone and make payments via other devices including Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
Apple launched (Wednesday, 5.5) this morning the payment service on Apple Pay mobile in Israel. The launch means that customers of all banks and credit card companies in Israel will now be able to add the credit card or direct debit card to the service on the iPhone, Apple Watch and Mac computers.
While The Verifier suggests all banks now support Apple Pay, that isn't quite the case. Israeli Apple users will need to check with their credit and debit card issuers to make sure that they can use their cards with Apple Pay. Alternatively, try to add a card via the Wallet app and just see what happens. You never know your luck!
