"We've been working on this mental health series that's coming out in May on Apple"
What you need to know
- Oprah and Prince Harry have teamed up to make an Apple TV+ series about mental health.
- The show has been in the works for some time but was reportedly delayed back in January.
An Apple TV+ series on mental health created by Oprah and Prince Harry is set to debut this month, according to Oprah herself.
Speaking to Dr. Bruce D Perry on The Drew Barrymore Show Oprah confirmed the rumored series is set to air in May. From The Independent:
"I want to just say that Dr Perry and I have also, for the past two years, along with Prince Harry and Apple, we've been working on this mental health series that's coming out in May on Apple," she said.
It emerged the two had teamed up to make a documentary back in 2019, from that report:
It isn't often that Prince Harry, or The Duke of Sussex as his grandmother likes to call him, appears in a headline relating to Apple. But here he is, and it all sounds pretty great with Harry said to be working on Oprah Winfrey's new Apple TV+ show.
In a report in The Telegraph we learn that Prince Harry is particularly focussed on mental health right now. And as part of that focus he's working with Oprah Winfrey on a new documentary series. In fact, he's co-creator and co-executive producer of it.
In January, it was reported that the show was delayed citing COVID-19 restrictions and Harry's exit from the Royal Family and subsequent move to the US.
The show will reportedly focus on "breaking down the stigma and shame surrounding mental illness" showing examples of the "human spirit fighting back from the darkest places."
