Should I get an iPad and Apple Pencil or a drawing tablet?
These days thanks to the Apple Pencil, iPads have become powerful drawing tools. While they don't offer quite as much pressure sensitivity as higher-end drawing tablets, they perform exceptionally well to the point that many professional artists use one as either their main or secondary means of creating. The best part is that there are a host of iPad drawing apps, my personal favorite being the free Adobe Fresco, which feels like Photoshop and Illustrator mashed together while managing to be easier to use than either one. If you're just testing the waters and don't already have an iPad, I do recommend going with one of the lower-cost drawing tablets since pens are usually included with them, so you won't spend as much to test digital drawing out. However, if you're already in the iPad ecosystem, nab an Apple Pencil Cyber Monday deal and jump into one of the many free drawing programs available. Just make sure you get the Apple Pencil that is compatible with your iPad.
