Kathie Lee Gifford ‘Wanted to Die’ Before Surgeries, Stem Cell Therapy

Author, journalist, and former Today Show co-anchor Kathie Lee Gifford has something to share.

She was, until very recently, in deep physical agony.

Her chronic pain interfered with meeting fans. Worse, it made it hard for her to play with her grandchildren.

It reached a point where she wanted to die.

‘I’ve never abused [my body], I just used it’

Just over a year ago, Gifford underwent a hip replacement surgery.

Followed by that, she went under the knife again.

Gifford broke her arm just by rolling over onto it at an extremely odd angle, she says.

Another broken bone came from a fall on uneven pavement — which can lead to catastrophic injuries even to someone who is not in her 70s.

When Gifford realized how far her depth perception had fallen, she underwent cataract surgery.

“You have to have a sense of humor about everything,” Gifford told People.

She expressed: “Thank God I’ve never lost that, even in my bleakest moments. I’m a tough broad.”

Even so, she is the first to admit that she’s put wear and tear on her body over the years.

“I’ve never abused [my body], I just used it,” Gifford explained.

In other words, she’s saying that she’s been so active that it’s taken a toll. That’s one of the grim truths of bodies and age — you need to be just the right amount of active.

‘I wanted to die a few times’

“I want to be Kathie Lee, the person they expect,” she explained. “I don’t want to disappoint people.”

This goes for meeting fans on the street as well as for spending time with her grandchildren.

Gifford added: “But when you’re in pain, it’s so debilitating, and everything’s a grimace.”

She detailed: “I’ve had emotional pain many times in my life, but never this chronic physical pain where you literally want to go home to Jesus.”

“I wanted to die a few times,” Gifford admitted. “I wasn’t going to hurt myself. I wasn’t going to kill myself. I just didn’t want to be here — as blessed as I am.”

After a series of surgeries, Gifford is doing six-days-a-week physical therapy and stem cell therapy.

She reports that she is now running “all over the place” with her grandchildren.

“They’re all fantastic,” she gushed to People.

She added: “I’m hoping, Lord willing, that I have many, many years with them.”

We of course wish her the very best.

Kate Gosselin Says She ‘Can’t’ Sue Collin for Defamation Over Tell-All …

According to recent reports, Kate Gosselin has been “spiraling” over estranged son Collin Gosselin’s tell-all book.

The memoir releases in just a few months, and seems poised to expose her like never before.

Reportedly, Kate’s been telling those closest to her that his book is full of lies, even if its contents aren’t public yet.

Will she sue him for defamation to silence him? Apparently not.

‘I can’t [because] I’m a public figure’

Though Kate has not directly mentioned Collin or his upcoming novel, it’s clear that In The Shadow of Eight is on her mind.

In her comments on TikTok, one user wrote: “If you are 100% certain that the accusations against you are lies, my suggestion would be to take him to court and sue him for defamation!”

Obviously, if Collin is “lying,” Kate couldn’t possibly know everything that he has to say in his memoir, could she?

While we puzzle over that head-scratcher, we’ll acknowledge that we’ve all seen defamation suits brought forward. Some even win on spurious grounds, even when the defendant is being entirely truthful.

With that in mind, it’s a great question. Why not sue Collin? Surely the woman who ruined his childhood can also ruin his book launch, right?

Kate actually replied to the commenter, offering an explanation of sorts.

“I can’t bc I’m a public figure,” she claimed in her response.

“Rules are different unfortunately,” Kate alleged.

She then wrote: “Or I def would!”

Not everyone believes her explanation. But she soon doubled down, explaining further.

‘I tried :(‘

“Malice is one of the hardest things to prove,” the widely reviled reality TV alum wrote. “I tried :(.”

Kate then alleged: “The rules are different for ppl in the public eye.”

She went on to describe: “I consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that’s what he said.”

Most people do not believe that Collin’s accounts of his childhood are “crazy.” That seems to be a problem for Kate.

According to her: “The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye :(”

Even after doubling down there, Kate wasn’t quite done.

A separate commenter asked her if she might consider taking a lie-detector test.

Kate simply replied: “Ha!”

Though she is one of the most widely despised former reality TV stars by many, some would argue that lie detector tests are famously unreliable and not exactly admissible in court. Not to defend her, but it would be a fool’s errand in many situations.

We’ll all look forward to reading Collin’s memoir when it releases in October.

Taylor Swift Wedding NDAs: How Harshly Are Leakers Punished?

The wedding of the year is nearly upon us.

This Friday, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are holding their nuptials.

The big event included over 1,000 invites, a lockdown on traffic near the venue, and even NDAs for guests.

How tough are the non-disclosure agreements?

Wedding bells are ringing! Metaphorically, for the moment

According to NBC News, Taylor and Travis’ wedding will reportedly include about 1,100 guests.

The festivities should go down at Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3.

Previous reports had shared that some wedding-related events would take place in New York on Friday. We just didn’t know how much.

It’s hard to keep a large wedding secret when you’re Taylor. Especially when there’s a block-off schedule in a city like New York.

Those with invitations — apparently, over 1,000 individuals — have received electronic nondisclosure agreements. NBC was however unclear on the details of the NDAs.

TMZ reports that the NDA may look intimidating but apparently isn’t quite a Sword of Damocles over guests’ heads.

Yes, the non-disclosure agreements that guests must e-sign forbid them from spilling details to the public.

However, TMZ says that the measure does not include a monetary penalty for blabbers.

In fact, there doesn’t seem to be any other punitive measures attached.

Simply put, it sounds like this is a legal measure to discourage people from blabbing, but not a cudgel with which to ruin their lives if they do.

Will there be some sort of streaming doc for the big day?

There is no film release attached, either.

So guests weren’t asked to sign away their rights to appear on camera.

This makes it sound like there’s probably not going to be a streaming special or a documentary about the wedding.

Or, if there is, select individuals may sign on (or not) during or after the wedding.

This makes sense. Taylor is a world-class celebrity. Travis is arguably fairly famous in the sportsball world. They’re not reality stars, and their wedding can be for them and friends, not for streaming.

Officially, we only know that the invitations listed “New York City” as the venue, and July 3 as the date.

As for MSG, we know the venue because New York City streets surrounding Madison Square Garden will be closed from July 2 through midday on July 4, all for a July 3 event.

People connected the dots. It wasn’t hard.

By the way, the invites were watermarked by Taylor and Travis, sort of like some OnlyFans videos are. That is to say, if someone leaks it, they’ll know who did.

Still, if someone wants to spill the beans, it sounds like they can. They’ll get a really good excuse to not attend a wedding in the process.

Is Donnie Wahlberg Divorced?

These days, Donnie is married to Jenny McCarthy, and by all accounts, the relationship is a healthy and stable one.

But the road to “happily ever after” was not without its twists and turns.

In fact, both Jenny and Donnie have been divorced.

As People reports, Donnie married Kim Fey in 1999, and the couple welcomed two children together.

However, in 2008, they decided to go their separate ways, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Following a messy legal battle in which Kim requested sole custody of the kids, the divorce was finalized in 2010.

Court files were sealed, so we still don’t know how the judge ruled.

The exact cause of the split remains unclear. But at the time, many observers speculated that Donnie’s friendship with Canadian model Michelle Tomlinson was a factor.

Donnie and Jenny’s Second Act

Whatever the case, it wasn’t long before Donnie fell for his second wife.

It happened in 2012 when Donnie and Jenny both appeared on Andy Cohen‘s Bravo talk show, Watch What Happens Live.

Donnie recalled their first meeting while participating in Instagram’s “first photo challenge” in 2020.

“This was our first meeting at @bravoandy @bravowwhl — where Andy implored me to ask Jenny out,” he captioned a throwback pic of the future couple.

“I didn’t … however, we’d meet again a year later at her talk show @vh1 @jennymccarthy. And the rest, as they say, is history.”

Jenny later told the tale of Donnie’s fateful appearance on her talk show.

“I went a year without dating anybody,” she told New York’s 95.5 PLJ radio (via E! Online).

“So I don’t know if I was really randy or really ready. But he was there, and I gave him my phone number. I’ve never given a guy my number, but I was interested.”

These days, when they’re not on either coast for work, Donnie and Jenny reside in her native Illinois with their happy blended family.

Now that Blue Bloods has come to an end, Donnie is set to star in a Boston-based spinoff.

But no matter where life takes him, he’ll have Jenny by his side.

Chris Johnson Reveals ‘Shocking’ ALS Diagnosis, Is Fighting for His Life

Running back Chris Johnson is an NFL legend.

Now, he is fighting for his like.

Monday morning, the retired professional athlete went on GMA and disclosed his ALS diagnosis.

Doctors told him that medication may prolong his life by months, not years. But he’s not giving up.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a terminal neurodegenerative disease

Appearing on Good Morning America on Monday, June 29, Johnson informed ABC viewers that he has been diagnosed with ALS.

Doctors told him that he has the ailment, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in 2025. He was only 39 years old.

“There’s no history of ALS in my family,” he shared, using a text-to-speech device to communicate.

“My doctors believe my case is what’s called sporadic ALS,” he revealed.

Johnson elaborated: “Which is actually how the vast majority of ALS cases happen.”

“That’s one of the reasons this disease can be so shocking,” Johnson expressed.

He added: “It can happen to someone who never expected it.”

Johnson went on to share how he discovered his earliest symptoms — symptoms that, given his extraordinary career, he never expected.

“I first noticed weakness in my right hand,” he recalled.

“At first, it was little things like my grip didn’t feel right,” Johnson elaborated, “and I wasn’t as strong as I’ve always been.”

ALS has not been conclusively linked to physical activity or injury

At first, Johnson shared, wife Brittany Johnson suspected that his years as a football player were the culprit.

We all know that many ailments result from the rough lives as a professional athlete, particularly traumatic brain injuries. Symptoms can creep up on people.

“I thought because of football and, you know, his career, that it had to be something with that,” Brittany admitted to Michael Strahan.

She continued: “Maybe … a pinched nerve or something along those lines, but never ALS.”

A pinched nerve likely has a solution. ALS has only treatment to slow the progression of symptoms, but not to stop them. Johnson will fight, but the prognosis is that he will likely die within years (at most), not decades.

Johnson told GMA viewers that the ALS diagnosis was nothing short of jarring.

The doctor who diagnosed him advised him that medication may prolong his life by a measure of months.

Johnson was then advised to “get our affairs in order” before she becomes a widow and a single parent to their four children.

“Honestly, I don’t know if you ever fully process it,” he admitted. “At first, you’re in shock.”

Johnson affirmed: “Then you realize you have two choices. You can give up, or you can fight. I chose to fight.”

‘Every new twist is another emotional blow’

On February 1, 2026, Nancy Guthrie was violently abducted from her home in the wee hours.

Her famous daughter, Savannah, took a hiatus from work, only returning in April. During her absence, Hoda Kotb stepped in despite retiring from the job last year.

Even now, months later, she admits that she cries before work and after work every day, imagining what her mother must have gone through during her abduction and before her death.

The 5-month anniversary of Nancy’s kidnapping is fast approaching. No culprit has been captured, Nancy remains officially “missing,” and more or less everyone believes that she likely died shortly after she vanished.

A recent bombshell report revealed a note sent to media outlets apologizing for the 84-year-old’s death.

It’s been all too much for Savannah. And maybe she did return to work too early, all things considered.

Rob Schuter reports that, if and when she needs a break, longtime friend and colleague Hoda Kotb is ready to step up.

“Everyone is deeply worried about Savannah,” an alleged source reported.

“She’s showing incredible strength on camera,” the same insider affirmed.

“But,” the source acknowledged, “every new twist is another emotional blow.”

‘Hoda didn’t hesitate’

“No one expects a daughter to carry this kind of heartbreak while hosting live television every morning,” the insider reasoned.

As a result, Hoda Kotb has allegedly “been put on standby and is ready to return to the anchor desk immediately.”

This will only happen “should Savannah decide — or be encouraged — to take time away,” the source explained.

A second insider reported that “Hoda didn’t hesitate” when asked to essentially be her former co-anchor’s understudy.

“She made it clear she’ll be there the moment she’s needed,” that same second source assured.

“This isn’t about replacing Savannah,” the insider stressed. “It’s about protecting a friend.”

The second source added: “Right now, everyone wants Savannah focused on one thing: finding her mother.” Even if that just means to lay her to rest.

“[Guthrie is] exhausted, heartbroken, and doing everything she can to stay strong,” an additional insider reported.

“Everyone is praying this nightmare ends soon,” the third source shared, “because nobody knows how much more one person can endure.”

Lauryn Hill Honored, Performs at BET Awards

Lauryn Hill is a living legend, and one of the most influential musicians of our time.

Over the weekend, the BET Awards honored her with the appropriately named Living Legend Icon Award.

Not only did she accept the accolade, she took things one step further.

Hill treated the audience to an impromptu performance of one of her biggest hits. And she didn’t stop there.

She received the Living Legend Icon Award

On Sunday, June 28, Hill delighted BET Awards viewers — in person and at home — with a classic.

Her 1998 hit, “Ex-Factor,” is only a small part of what earned her the Living Legend Icon Awards.

Ice Cube introduced Hill to the stage.

Viewers saw a 20-minute tribute to her iconic career.

SZA, Doechii, Lizzo, Queen Latifah, and Common all performed in tribute. So, too, did Selah Marley and Zion Marley — her children.

Hill also ended up closing the show, performing “Everything Is Everything.”

During the tributes, the music icon smiled, sang along, and applauded.

On the stage, she accepted the monumental honor.

Speaking to the audience, Hill encouraged everyone to embrace their gifts and to remain true to their purpose.

That is an important message, with the bleakness of streaming and the hard push for AI slop in every corner of what should be a creative industry.

‘It’s me fighting for my community’

“I fight for y’all,” Hill affirmed to everyone in the room.

“And fighting for y’all is me fighting for myself, it’s me fighting for my children,” she emphasized.

Hill added: “It’s me fighting for my community.”

In addition to her music career, she has also been a champion of various activist causes.

(Hill did need to be reminded by activists to cancel a 2015 performance in the apartheid state of Israel, but hey, at least she canceled.)

Hill launched her career as a member of the Fugees.

Then, she broke off and launched her solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

“Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor,” and “Everything Is Everything” remain some of her most iconic hits to this day.

The Living Legend Icon Award honors pioneers within the culture who have influenced generations — from enjoyers to fellow artists.

Hill more than qualifies.

Sydney Sweeney: Career Doomed by NSFW ‘Euphoria’ Scenes?

Each week, millions of HBO viewers watched the over-the-top drama and various twists and turns of Euphoria.

When the teen series first launched in 2019, one of the breakout stars was Sydney Sweeney.

She has gone on to take on phenomenal acting roles across a spectrum of genres, earning acclaim for her acting.

But some worry that her nude and all-around NSFW Euphoria scenes could ruin her career in the long run.

Can a role be too steamy for a sustainable career?

On Sunday, May 24, Sweeney went topless for Euphoria Season 3, Episode 7: “Rain or Shine.”

For the scene, viewers saw the POV of looking up at her while she pretended to have fairly energetic sex.

Topless moments like this one have been going viral throughout the show’s history.

And though her character, Cassie Howard, is an objectively terrible person, she has continued to draw eyes.

Season 3 followed her character’s journey as an OnlyFans creator. Though many sex workers have noted that the “easy money” narrative is not realistic for the vast majority of performers, many viewers have enjoyed the storyline for obvious reasons.

Crisis and reputation management expert Dave Quast spoke to Fox News about the double-edged sword of Sweeney’s nude scenes in Euphoria.

“‘Euphoria’ clearly helped establish Sydney Sweeney as a fearless performer, physically and emotionally, and that’s part of why she broke through,” Quast began.

“The risk is that when the public conversation focuses more on the sexualized aspects of the role than on the performance,” he explained, “the same work that made her seem daring can start to narrow the brand.”

Quast did correctly clarify: “Sexuality on screen is not inherently unserious.”

He added: “The problem is when it becomes the dominant shorthand for the actor.””

So what is the real challenge?

“For Sweeney, the challenge is not that she has played sexualized roles,” Quast reasoned.

He clarified: “The challenge is making sure those roles continue to read as character choices, not as the entire brand proposition.”

That’s not to say that Quast thinks that her career is doomed, by any measure.

“Visibility is currency, and Sweeney has become one of the rare young actresses who can reliably generate conversation around almost anything she does,” he praises.

Quast acknowledged: “That has real commercial value.”

There are obvious pitfalls to being something of a lightning rod — even if there are commercial applications.

Sweeney’s jeans ad last summer ignited a firestorm, through no real fault of her own.

Conservative panelists highlighted a handful of people who (not unreasonably) found the eugenics implications of the “good jeans” pun to be off-putting.

Against her will, Sweeney became the epicenter of a national discussion. To some, her relative silence after the scandal seemed like a confirmation of people’s worst assumptions, rather than a fear of stirring the hornet’s nest.

Truth be told, her Euphoria role — with Cassie Howard espousing conservative views and hurling slurs — cannot have helped.

There’s a chance that sexualization could make things worse for her. But Sweeney also has a lot of defenders who first paid attention to her because she’s really, really hot.

Back in July of 2025, a super rare video of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce hit the internet. Fans spotted the two in Park City, Utah.

Just days later, the two again went on a low-key outing. This time, a dinner date in New York.

In late March, reports had Taylor and Travis dining with Erin Andrews in Big Sky, Montana.

Notably, she apparently encouraged the two to date in the first place.

Sometimes, when a couple who was once virtually omnipresent starts acting private, it’s a red flag.

When a romance is on the rocks, people try to avoid public fights.

Especially when they are in the spotlight. Taylor and Travis are one of the planet’s most famous couples, and she’s someone who likes to plan ahead.

On the flip side, sometimes there’s a very different reason to hide.

When you want to hide your baby bump, you’d hide your whole body. And some fans wonder if Taylor is doing just that.

Apparently, this famous couple just wants some peace and quiet

According to a report by Life & Style, an inside source assures that Taylor and Travis “are still very much in love.”

The insider characterized: “They’re simply recharging their batteries.”

Just as many introverts might need some alone time after a busy social event, some famous couples need to back down from whirlwind public appearances to nurture their relationship.

“Taylor’s been in rest-and-relaxation mode since she wrapped her Eras Tour in December,” the source shared.

According to the insider, “the plan has always been to enjoy the off-season with Travis by packing in a lot of travel.”

In a move that surprised many the Grammy Awards earlier this month.

That’s usually a can’t-miss event for Taylor, for obvious reasons, even when she’s not nominated.

Notably, Taylor skipped the VMAs in September.

But is she hiding a baby bump amidst all of this R&R?

The source went on to say that, after a challenging NFL season “and all the pressure that went with it,” Taylor and Travis needed a long break.

“He desperately needed a break,” the insider dished. “So Taylor surprised him with a super private trip.”

The source elaborated: “They’ve been hitting the slopes in Park City and Big Sky, where they blended right in. It helps that they can cover up their faces when they’re skiing, since most people are wearing helmets, goggles or face coverings. They love the anonymity.”

Simply put, there is absolutely no proof of a Taylor pregnancy.

There have been no baby bump sightings.

Taylor is a conspicuously tall (relatively) and slender woman. Pregnancy would not hide for long.

If some sort of exciting news leaks, we’ll be thrilled to share it.

But for now, it sounds like Taylor and Travis are just trying to take it easy.

Erin and Ben Napier Divorce Rumors: Are the ‘Home Town’ Stars Headed For Splitsville?

Of all the renovation teams on HGTV, perhaps none is more beloved than Erin and Ben Napier of Home Town fame.

The married Mississippians, who are parents to daughters Helen and Mae, have been transforming their neighbors’ lives since their show debuted in January of 2016.

Their success has as much to do with their onscreen chemistry as it does with their talent for restoring old homes.

But according to a recent rumor, the Napiers have been dealing with some marital setbacks behind the scenes.

Erin Napier addresses persistent divorce rumors

Is there any truth to these reports? Could the college sweethearts actually be moving from Home Town to Splitsville?

Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder, as Erin has taken to social media to clear the air.

“Can’t believe I even have to say this but NO, the click bait articles that we are splitting up are not real, y’all,” she wrote in an Instagram Story (per Realtor).

“They are AI generated in India or something and don’t even make any kind of sense. Y’all are smarter than this.”

Erin added a request that fans not bring up the rumors in front of the Napiers’ daguhters:

“Please don’t ask about it in front of our babies. They don’t understand what ‘online fake news’ means and it’s upsetting,” she wrote.

The ‘Home Town’ love story is still going strong

Erin and Ben met while they were both students at Jones County Junior College, near Laurel, Mississippi.

They later transferred to the University of Mississippi, and they’ve been inseparable ever since.

The Napiers married in 2008, and they quickly got to work restoring old houses.

Their work first caught the attention of regional media outlets, such as Southern Weddings magazine.

HGTV soon came calling, and Erin and Ben have since shot more than 100 episodes of Home Town.

The show also inspired two spinoffs, Home Town: Ben’s Workshop and Home Town Takeover.

So it sounds like the Napiers will continue beautifying their neighborhood for many years to come.

Sadly, rumors are part of the territory when you’ve reached their level of fame.

Thankfully, it seems that Erin and Ben are content to ignore the haters and focus on what really matters — addressing the housing needs of their Mississippi neighbors, and building up their community, one restoration at a time.

NYPD Receives Warning Ahead of Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce Wedding

If media reports are accurate, we’re just days away from the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

And the social event of the century could turn out to be a massive logistical nightmare for New York’s finest.

As we previously reported, it looks as though Taylor and Travis are planning to tie the knot at Madison Square Garden.

(Yes, the Mecca of Basketball is not typically a wedding venue, but they’ll make an exception for a multi- billionaire who also happens to be the most famous woman on the planet.)

Insiders tell the New York Times that the nuptials are set to take place on July 3, though July 2 and 4 are also possibilities.

That means Tay and Trav will be hosting the celebrity event of the year in Midtown Manhattan on the weekend of America’s 250th anniversary.

Needless to say, the event is sure to attract all sorts of attention:

In addition to the army of Swities who will certainly gather outside the arena, there are sure to be swarms of paparazzi and quite a few protesters expressing their distaste for Taylor’s extreme wealth.

As a result of the chaos that’s likely to unfold next weekend, the NYPD has reportedly been placed on high alert.

Variety spoke with two police officers who work the Midtown beat, and they both revealed that they have been briefed about the Swift-Kelce wedding and what will be expected of them.

“Both cops said that they have been briefed about a potential influx of Taylor Swift fans, paparazzi and onlookers on the day, and that it’s been a topic of discussion and amusement when chatting with their friends on the force,” the outlet wrote, noting that the officers spoke on condition of anonymity.

We’re sure Taylor will be joined by her own top-tier security detail, but she’s probably breathing a little easier knowing the NYPD are also on the job.

However, New York taxpayers might feel a little differently, and surely quite a few commuters will wind up wishing that Taylor and Travis had chosen to host their nuptials on a private island somewhere.

Details are still scarce, and we don’t know exactly when Travis and Taylor will say “I do,” but the Times report indicates that an event for about 100 people will take place at MSG on July 2.

On July 3, there will be a larger event with 1,000 guests.

Is the first event the ceremony, and the second the reception? Is the whole thing happening on Day One and Taylor is just hosting a little mini concert for her VIP friends on Day Two?

Only time will tell. But in the meantime, at least it sounds like the safety of all involved will be assured.

7-Year-Old Casper O’Brien Died at 255 Pounds, Parents Charged with Second-Degree …

Year after year, we read horror stories about parents who starve one child or multiple children, sometimes to death.

This story is different — but only up to a point.

A 7-year-old boy, who was never enrolled in school, died at 255 pounds.

His parents have been arrested on charges including murder and torture. He was not their only child.

He was only 7 years old

On November 4, 2025, a 911 call summoned emergency services in Flint Township, Michigan.

The call was for a child in distress.

7-year-old Casper was rushed to the hospital.

Unfortunately, he died from dilated cardiomyopathy.

A contributing cause, medical experts found, was morbid obesity.

At age 7, Casper was 4 foot 2. That is slightly above average for his age, developmentally speaking.

According to the CDC (obviously, that heavily politicized organization requires a huge grain of salt), a “healthy” weight for him would have been less than 80 pounds.

At the time of his death, his weight was reportedly 255 pounds.

255 is smaller than some football players. Depending upon someone’s build, that might be the ideal weight for an adult body.

For a 7-year-old, it isn’t healthy. And authorities say that it’s evidence of a litany of crimes committed by the late child’s parents.

‘Cruel and extreme suffering’

Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien have been charged with a slew of crimes.

The charges include second-degree murder, child abuse, and torture, the NY Post reports.

According to Geneseee County prosecutor David Leyton, this is about “cruel and extreme suffering from this child caused by the neglect of the parents.”

In fact, Casper was not the only child in the house. The O’Briens also have a 5-year-old daughter.

Allegedly, they never enrolled Casper in school, effectively hiding both children — and their welfare — from society. Now, one of those children has died.

The O’Briens are due in court on July 2.

It is unclear what sort of legal defense they will attempt to mount regarding these charges.

Additionally, it is unclear how much evidence investigators uncovered concerning the welfare of both children prior to Casper’s tragic death.

Every death of a child is a tragedy. Many of these deaths, perhaps most, are preventable.

If our society had more robust protections for children, this likely never would have happened.

Joe Doering Cause of Death: Wrestling Legend Was 44

We have tragic news to report from the world of sports today:

TNA Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling icon Joe Doering has passed away at the age of 44 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

News of his death comes courtesy of a statement from Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling:

“At 9:13 AM today, June 26, our brother Joe Doering passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family,” the organization wrote in a statement (via TMZ).

“Though his time on this earth lasted only 44 years, Joe packed a thousand years’ worth of living into every one of them.”

The statement concluded by honoring the wrestler’s legacy.

“Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Lindsay, his family, and leaves behind countless friends and devoted fans around the world who will forever remember his strength, courage, and spirit.”

Doering was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016 and underwent surgery to remove the mass.

Despite the diagnosis, he continued wrestling at a high level, becoming one of the most respected big men in the business during his time with All Japan Pro Wrestling.

In 2022, however, the cancer returned, forcing Doering to step away from the ring for another surgery.

Late last year, his family revealed he had been diagnosed with a third brain tumor. Earlier this week, loved ones shared the heartbreaking news that he had entered hospice care as his condition worsened.

Standing 6-foot-8, Doering built an impressive career after making his professional debut in 2004.

He briefly competed in WWE’s developmental system under the ring name Drake Brewer before finding his greatest success in Japan, where he became a two-time Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion in All Japan Pro Wrestling.

American fans also remember his run in TNA Wrestling as a member of the Violent By Design faction alongside Eric Young, Deaner and Rhino. During his time with the promotion, Doering captured the Impact World Tag Team Championship and established himself as one of the company’s most intimidating competitors.

News of Doering’s death quickly prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and members of the wrestling community, many of whom praised both his toughness inside the ring and the courage he displayed throughout his years-long fight against cancer.

His determination to continue competing while undergoing treatment inspired countless colleagues and fans alike.

Joe Doering is survived by his wife, Lindsay, along with other family members and countless friends.

Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
