Convicted predator Josh Duggar has been transferred to a facility catering to inmates who require medical and mental health services.
According to TMZ, the disgraced former reality star has been transferred from FCI Seagoville, the Texas federal prison where he had been serving his sentence, to a Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth.
The move is significant because Federal Medical Centers are generally reserved for inmates who require specialized or long-term care services that cannot be provided in a standard federal prison setting.
At this point, federal officials aren’t saying exactly why Duggar was transferred.
The Bureau of Prisons declined to discuss the conditions of any individual inmate, noting only that transfers can occur for a variety of reasons, including medical needs, mental health treatment, security concerns, programming requirements, or inmate safety.
That lack of information has already fueled widespread speculation online.
Interestingly, the facility already houses another disgraced reality star, Joe Exotic, who is receiving cancer treatment on site. Exotic is doing time for a murder-for-hire plot targeting his professional rival, Carole Baskin.
Josh is currently serving a more than 12-year federal sentence after being convicted in 2021 of receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material.
The former reality star was sentenced to 151 months in prison and has made several appeals challenging his conviction.
The transfer comes just weeks after another setback.
As we previously reported, Josh’s projected release date was pushed back yet again, moving from late 2032 to February 2, 2033. It marked the third time his release date had been extended during his incarceration.
His time behind bars has hardly been loaded with conduct violations and disciplinary action.
In 2023, Josh spent time in solitary housing after being caught with a contraband cell phone. More recently, intimate jail messages he sent to wife Anna Duggar resurfaced publicly, generating another round of headlines.
Throughout it all, Anna has remained supportive of her husband.
The couple, who married in 2008 and share seven children, have largely maintained a united front despite the criminal conviction and years of damaging scandals surrounding the Duggar family.
For now, the biggest mystery is the reason behind Josh’s seemingly sudden transfer to a medical facility.
