Mario and his friends are back with a familiar board game adventure, Mario Party Superstars. In the latest of all available Mario games on the Switch, players are able to dive into the nostalgia of the early Mario Party boards and minigames. In this new game, players are able to choose from one of six packs of minigames to play while rounding the board in search of the stars. The categories are skill, action, family, GameCube, Nintendo 64, and All Types. We've gathered up all the minigames by pack and picked the best ones!
Skill
All the games in the skill minigames pack are for strategy players. If you like to take the luck out of the equation and go in with precision, Crazy Cutters is the minigame for you. Each player starts with an outline of a Mario character and must follow the outline on a jackhammer. Whoever is the closest to the original outline wins.

Action
The action minigames pack is full of high-paced minigames all about running, jumping, speeding, and dodging. Our favorite here is Mushroom Mix-Up. Everyone starts on a platform made up of different colors. All the platforms except for one, signaled by Toad's flag, will drop and leave the losers in the water. Get too pushy, and you could end up accidentally self-destructing, be too passive, and you could get squished and taken away.

Family
To keep it fun for all ages, the family minigames pack has something for all levels of experience. Our pick for the best minigame for the family is fun and simple without being too simple, Roll Call. All players are positioned at the bottom of the screen facing a field filled with multiple random characters. Press A as you count how many are in the field and try to keep track of which ones you've counted. They move! Whoever has the closest number wins!

GameCube
This GameCube minigame pack highlights the games from Mario Party 4-7, all playable on the GameCube system. In a combination of skill and luck is our favorite, Night-Light Fright. A Chomp is on a chain behind you in an alleyway. As you see him coming closer, you have to wait to shine your light on him to stop him. You want to have him closer to you than the other players do to themselves, but don't want to wait too long, or he'll get you!

Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 minigames pack has all of the games that were available in Mario Party 1-3. Taking the favorite spot in this nostalgic pack is Face Lift. At the beginning of the match, a Bowser face appears and becomes disfigured. Each player is then given their own Bowser face and has to drag Bowser's facial features around to be the closest match to the face in the middle. What I love about this is the recall to Super Mario 64, as this was a feature you could play around with before starting the game.

All Types
The All Types minigame pack will have a variety of all of the 100 games available in Mario Party Superstars. You can see a list of all the minigames and everything else you may need to know in our Mario Party Superstars Ultimate Guide. The game that takes the top of all for me is Shy Guy Says. Hold up the same flag as Shy Guy to stay attached to the boat. As it goes on, he gets faster and faster, and he can even psych you out. Last man standing wins!
Mini but mighty
These Mario Party Superstars games have made a huge impression throughout the years and hold a lot of memories for those who have played them growing up. There does seem to be a lot of similarities in these packs but there's also a lot to choose from so you won't be playing the same games over and over. Regardless of which minigame pack you choose, 100 minigames is definitely enough to keep you entertained throughout the match.
