Former ESPN president and presenter sign first-look deal with Apple TV+

What you need to know

  • Meadowlark Media has signed a multi-year first-look deal with Apple, according to reports.
  • Former ESPN president John Skipper and ESPN presenter Dan Le Batard are behind the media company.

The deal will involve documentary and unscripted content.

Apple TV+ has reportedly signed a multi-year first-look deal with Meadowlark Media, a company created by former ESPN president John Skipper and ESPN presenter Dan Le Batard.

The pair will work on new documentary and unscripted content for Apple TV+ according to a new Variety report, although it might not necessarily be related to sports.

Under the deal, Meadowlark will produce documentary and unscripted series for the streamer. Meadowlark was launched in January, with the company at that time announcing an initial focus on sports content. However, they have previously stated that they will partner with many different creators in a variety of content areas.

The news comes hot on the heels of another Apple TV+ announcement that has former Schitt's Creek star Eugene Levy starring in a new travel show called The Reluctant Traveler.

Apple TV+ continues to grow with new shows, movies, and documentaries being announced seemingly all the time. Existing hit shows like Ted Lasso and Servant continue to pick up new seasons, too. Priced at just $4.99 per month, Apple TV+ might just be the best deal in streaming television right now — and things get even better if you use services like Apple Music and take advantage of Apple One, too.
