Apple is reportedly planning Time to Run and Audio Meditations for Fitness+

What you need to know

  • Apple is reportedly working on two new Apple Fitness+ features based around running and meditation.
  • Time to Run and Audio Meditations would be similar to the existing Time to Walk feature.
  • Guided runs and meditations are likely to be part of the new features.

Expansion of Apple Fitness+ looks set to continue.

Apple is reportedly working on new Apple Fitness+ features that would offer guided runs and meditations. The new features would be an expansion on the existing Time to Walk offering.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Apple is working on the new features as an expansion of the existing Apple Fitness+ lineup. Apple's current Time to Walk feature has celebrities tell stories about their lives as users walk and listen. Gurman suggests that Apple is planning on bringing a similar approach to running and meditation.

Remember the launch of Time to Walk on Apple Fitness+ (the feature for listening to celebrities like Draymond Green and Shawn Mendes while walking)? I'm told Apple is readying variations of this service: the self-explanatory Time to Run and Audio Meditations.

It isn't exactly clear when this will be announced, but it's likely to happen alongside the arrival of watchOS 8 and Apple Watch Series 7 this fall.

The current Apple Fitness+ features are among some of the best Apple Watch uses around and Apple's continued growth of the service is good to see. Assuming Gurman's report is on the money, of course.

Apple has a busy few months ahead of it. New iPhones, Apple Watches, Macs, and even AirPods are expected to be announced before we see 2021 come to a close.
