Apple's second Entrepreneur Camp for Black Founders and Developers just closed applications.

Esther Hare is pushing for more women and black developers.

The senior director of worldwide developer marketing for Apple recently sat down for an interview with the Brazilian newspaper O GLOBO (via 9to5Mac) to talk about the company Entrepreneur Camp program. The executive also talked about how developers in places like Brazil are rethinking how their work could benefit the world.

"In the past year, in Brazil, we saw some coronavirus games initiatives about health habits and washing hands to face this disease. Now, there are a lot of initiatives about mental health, environment, global warmth, and food waste. I feel that the developers are thinking about how their business will create a good impact on their families and communities."

Hare noted that, over the pandemic, "many women started to focus on what they really want and are now focusing on remote working."

"We have a program called Apple Entrepreneur Camp," which we start businesses specifically founded and leaded by women. Our goal is to overcome systemic issues in the tech area, from learning how to code, to the beginning of how to create a business and obtain foundings. Women find barriers at different levels, which make things even harder for them."

Apple has already run an Entrepreneur Camp for both Black Founders and Developers and Female Founders and Developers. Applications have actually just closed for the company's second Entrepreneur Camp for Black Founders and Developers. The program offers attendees exclusive time with Apple engineers, ongoing support, access to an alumni network, and more.

Anyone who is interested in applying for the program can learn more on the Apple Entrepreneur Camp website.
