Former Apple design chief Jony Ive will speak at a WIRED event next week with Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour handling the questions. The virtual RE:WIRED event will see Ive speak with Wintour on Tuesday, November 9 at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time.

Anyone looking to get in on the event can register for free right now.

Our world is facing some of the most critical challenges of all time. While the last decade ushered in dramatic technological acceleration, the last 18 months have kicked off a tectonic societal shift in how we live, work, and connect.

Generating sustainable and strategic solutions to these challenges—from both communal action and heroic innovation—requires us to rewire discourse and the way we think. This is RE:WIRED.

Join us this November for a series of conversations between technologists and people who think hard about the consequences for those technologies on society, economics, sustainability and, ultimately, our future.

Ive left Apple in 2019, although many insiders said that he had checked out long before then. He now runs Love From, a design firm he co-founded with fellow designer Marc Newson. Ive was involved with Apple for many years of course, although not all of his design philosophies are well thought of. His determination to make things thin and light often went against what people actually needed from a device, causing friction between Apple and its users. The iPhone 13 getting thicker compared to iPhone 12 is one example of something many find difficult to imagine happening under Ive's watch — despite the battery and photography benefits it affords — the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the best iPhone ever in terms of battery life.

First spotted by 9to5Mac, the event will also include appearances from CISA director Jen Easterly, actor John Cho, Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel, and more.
