Best answer: Not until sometime in 2022. The Pokémon Company says that Pokémon HOME will work with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl eventually, but no specific date has been given.
What is Pokémon HOME?
Pokémon HOME has become a quintissential part of playing any of the Pokémon games on Switch since it allows you to pull in any the creatures you've captured in your games and then trade them with people online. It's one of the best ways to get rare Pokémon with great stats or even Shiny Pokémon.
However, Nintendo doesn't make Pokémon HOME compatible with Switch Pokémon games until they've been out for a while. This is probably done to preserve the trading experience and keep completing the Pokédex from becoming too easy via trades when the games first launch. This means you cannot use Pokémon HOME with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl just yet. However, Nintendo has stated that compatibility will be added in 2022.
How to trade in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Until Pokémon HOME releases, players will only be able to trade with each other using Diamond and Pearl's in-game trading options, located on the top floor of Pokémon Centers. Note that players must have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription in order to participate in any online activity. Here are the ways you can trade:
Wonder Trade: Trade randomly with another player around the world. Place any Pokémon you want into the Wonder Trade and then you'll eventually trade with another player and get the Pokémon they put into the system.
Local Trade: Trade with a buddy who is standing nearby with their own Nintendo Switch and a copy of Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl.
Online Trade Trade with another player online who also has a copy of the game.
Which Pokémon can I trade into Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?
We learned with Pokémon Sword and Shield that only certain Pokémon included in the Gen VIII Pokédex could be traded into the games. The same thing goes with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The Sinnoh Dex holds 150 Pokémon, but the National Dex holds 493 Pokemon.

Trade to fill that Dex!
It's a little frustrating that Pokémon HOME isn't available with Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl at launch. However, it's good to know that compatibility is coming in the near future. At least we can trade within the Gen IV remakes until that update launches.
Head to remade Sinnoh
