'For All Mankind' Season 2 debuts on Apple TV+

The first episode is out now, with new episodes to follow weekly.

What you need to know

  • For All Mankind is back for season 2, and the first episode is now available.
  • The space race thriller, set in an alternate historical timeline, picks up nearly ten years after the end of season 1.

Apple TV+ drama For All Mankind is back, and the first episode of season 2 has debuted Friday, February 19.

One of the first TV+ shows pegged for a second (and third) season, For All Mankind is a drama series set in an alternative historical timeline where the USSR wins the space race to the moon. Season two begins a decade after the end of season one. From Apple:

Season two of the space drama picks up a decade later in 1983. It's the height of the Cold War and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak. Ronald Reagan is president and the greater ambitions of science and space exploration are at threat of being squandered as the US and Soviets go head-to-head to control sites rich in resources on the moon. The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarization of NASA becomes central to several characters' stories: some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.

New cast members include Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Casey W. Johnson. The first episode is out now, with nine more set to follow, one episode per week.

To accompany the release, Apple unveiled a brand new For All Mankind augmented reality experience called 'Time Capsule'. The new AR experience lets users take a real-life AR look at some of the most important props of the show, putting you in the shoes of Danny as you sort through your family's keepsakes including a home computer, a newspaper, and more.
