The Pokémon Go Season of Mischief bring more fun with Hoopa

What will this Season bring to Pokémon Go?

Pokémon Go Seasons are fairly massive, spread out across three whole months. Keeping track of everything that will be happening in a Pokémon Go Season is a real challenge, but we here at iMore have all the details available for what to expect each Season. What are Pokémon Go Seasons?

Introduced with the Go Beyond update, Pokémon Go Seasons not only coincide roughly with the four seasons of the real world, but each have a theme that encompasses events throughout the three month period. During the course of a Season, you can expect to find more of specific species of Pokémon in the wild and in Eggs, as well as a new Pokémon Go Battle League Season.

What is the current Pokémon Go Season?

The fourth Pokémon Go Season, the Season of Mischief has arrived. During this Season, Hoopa has returned for more mischief, after having transported Zacian, Zamazenta, and a handful of other Sword and Shield Pokémon a whole generation early. Over the course of the Season of Mischief, players will have a Special Research line to encounter Hoopa. The Season will also feature the return of the Psychic Spectacular and Fashion Week events. Additionally, Team GO Rocket boss Giovanni has gone missing?!

This Season also coincides with Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere and Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition to Deerling and Sawsbuck changing their forms to match the real world seasons, you can expect a handful of seasonally appropriate Pokémon in their respective hemispheres.

Dates

The Season of Mischief runs from September 1, 2021 at 8 AM local time to December 1, 2021 at 10 AM local time.

Pokémon shifting with the Seasons

Pokémon spawning in the specific geographic areas, including cities, forests, mountains, and bodies of water, this Season will include:

  • Shuppet
  • Trubbish
  • Gothita
  • Teddiursa
  • Shelmet
  • Karrablast
  • Geodude
  • Rhyhorn
  • Slugma
  • Krabby
  • Horsea
  • Mantine

Hemisphere specific wild Pokémon

As the seasons are reversed between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the Hemisphere you play in will have different Pokémon spawning in the wild. While each Season will include the Deerling forme corresponding to that Hemisphere, there will be a bunch of other Pokémon specifically boosted.

The Northern Hemisphere will feature the following Pokémon:

  • Jigglypuff*
  • Slowpoke*
  • Chikorita*
  • Cyndaquil*
  • Totodile*
  • Bidoof*
  • Deerling (Autumn)

The Southern Hemisphere will feature the following Pokémon:

  • Clefairy*
  • Roserade*
  • Snivy*
  • Tepig*
  • Oshawatt* (Shiny after 9-19)
  • Tympole
  • Deerling (Spring)

Pokémon with the potential to be Shiny are indicated with an asterisk.

Eggs

While Pokémon in Eggs will shift with events as well, during the Season of Discovery there will be changes to Egg contents. Remember though, Egg contents are determined when you pick up the Egg so if you want these Pokémon, you'll need to pick up new Eggs!

The following Pokémon will be hatching from 2KM Eggs:

  • Nidoran♂*
  • Nidoran♀*
  • Barboach*
  • Drifloon*

The following Pokémon will be hatching from 5KM Eggs:

  • Seel*
  • Pineco*
  • Sableye*
  • Chingling

The following Pokémon will be hatching from 10KM Eggs:

  • Audino*
  • Mienfoo

The following Pokémon will be hatching from 5KM Adventure Sync reward Eggs:

Throughout the Season of Mischief, the following Mega Evolved Pokémon will be have boosted CP:

Seasonal events

While there will be all the usual holiday based events, we can also look forward to the following Season based events:

  • Hoopa's Arrival: Beginning on September 5, players will be able to complete Special Research to catch the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa. To celebrate Hoopa, from 11AM to 6PM local time, Psychic, Ghost, and Dark type Pokémon will be appearing in the wild and attracted to Incense.
  • Psychic Spectacular: The Psychic focused event is back and this time players will be able to capture and evolve Inkay and Malamar for the first time. Many other Psychic type Pokémon will be available in the wild, in Eggs, and in Raids from September 8 through September 13, 2021.
  • Fashion Week: The fashion focused event is coming back

Season exclusive Special Research

The Season of Mischief includes a Season specific Special Research line: Misunderstood Mischief to encounter Hoopa! This Special Research line is 16 pages long and will gradually unlock over the course of three months.

Step One

  • Make ten Nice Throws for an Incense
  • Use an Incense for ten PokéBalls
  • Take three Snapshots of wild Psychic type Pokémon for ten Nanab Berries

Completion Rewards: Gothita encounter, 1,000 XP, 500 Stardust

What were the past Pokémon Go Seasons?

Wondering what past Pokémon Go Seasons looked like? Here are the highlights:

  • June 1, 2021 through September 1, 2021: Season of Discovery: the third Pokémon Go Season focused on Pokémon Go's fifth anniversary and Pokémon Go Fest 2021. The Regi Trio returned, along with fun new Avatar Style items themed off the titans. The global Pokémon Go fest 2021 brought back every single Legendary Pokémon for a full day of Raids, and players were rewarded with three Ultra Unlock events, including the introduction of Zacian and Zamazenta, thanks to Hoopa's mischief.

  • March 1, 2021 through June 1, 2021: Season of Legends: the second Pokémon Go Season celebrated Legendary Pokémon and featured tons of Raids. This Season kicked off with the Forces of Nature trio and double trouble from Team GO Rocket. The Kalos region continued to make its way into Pokémon Go with Xerneas and Yveltal starring in the Luminous Legends X and Luminous Legends Y events and bringing an end to the Season.

  • December 1, 2020 through March1, 2021: Season of Celebration: the first Pokémon Go Season celebrated each of the regions in the Pokémon world, as well as introduced the Kalos region to Pokémon Go. The Go Beyond update was highlighted, along with the expansion of the Pokémon Go Battle League. The Season of Celebration wrapped up with the Pokémon Go Tour: Kanto event, Kanto Celebration, and the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.
