Apple TV+ smash-hit Ted Lasso will be vying for twenty Emmy awards at its 73rd awards show later this year, as announced today by the body.
In an online event starring Father-Daughter duo Ron Cephas Jones (This Is Us) and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Blindspotting) on Tuesday, it was announced that Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso was up for outstanding comedy series, and that creator and star Jason Sudeikis was up for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.
Ted Lasso is up for the award alongside Blackish, Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, Hacks, Pen15, The Flight Attendant, and The Kominsky Method.
The show picked up 20 nominations in all, with actors Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, Jeremy Swift, and actresses Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham all in the running for outstanding support awards.
Three of the show's episodes were nominated for outstanding directing and two for outstanding writing, as well as one for outstanding production design for a narrative program, and one for outstanding casting for a comedy series. The show also got nominations for outstanding camera work and sound mixing.
M. Night Shyamalan's thriller Servant was also nominated for outstanding cinematography for a single-camera series and Boys State was nominated for outstanding directing for a documentary and simply outstanding documentary.
Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry picked up a nomination for outstanding music direction, and the theme song for Ted Lasso written by Marcus Mumford was nominated for outstanding original main title theme music. Eilish's documentary was also nominated for outstanding picture editing for a nonfiction program and outstanding sound mixing, as was Bruce Springsteen's Letter to You.
Apple TV+ show Central Park got two nominations in the outstanding character voice-over performance category for Stanley Tucci and Tituss Burgess, and Anthony Hopkins scooped a nomination for outstanding narrator in Mythic Quest.
Apple TV+ shows picked up 34 nominations in all.
