Apple teaches us to 'shoot and edit otherworldly photos' in new iPhone vid

What you need to know

  • A new Today at Apple video shows us how to take great nighttime photos.
  • Photographer Maria Lax shows us how to make the most of Night mode.

Time to level up your photography game.

Apple has shared its latest Today at Apple video, this time giving us all some tips on how to make the very best of iPhone's Night mode. Photographer Maria Lax takes us around the streets of London as we learn how to make the most of light, dark, color, and more

The video, which runs for more than eight minutes, sees Lax and Apple's Landon take some photos using iPhones and accessories like pieces of plastic and vaseline. The aim is to take great "otherworldly" photos using Night mode and no small amount of skill and experimentation. We all get to learn as they go, too.

Watch and learn!

Learn how to shoot and edit otherworldly photos in Night mode on iPhone with the help of photographer Maria Lax and Landon from Today at Apple.

It doesn't matter whether you're using an iPhone 12 or something a little older, much of what this video shows will come in handy the next time you're taking photos. If you're wanting to get the best out of your photography, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is undoubtedly the best iPhone for taking photos right now.

That will no doubt change when Apple announces the iPhone 13 lineup later this year, of course. All being well, Apple should announce a new iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max this September.
