Spotify's new 'What's New' feed means you'll never miss a new release

What you need to know

  • Spotify's new What's New feed is designed to make sure people don't miss out on new content.
  • The new feed will include new music and podcasts.

Spotify wants to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

Music streaming service Spotify has announced a new feature that it hopes will ensure people don't miss out on new music and podcasts. The new What's New feed "makes it easier than ever to catch all the latest songs and episodes from the creators you follow."

Announced earlier today, the new feature will be available to users who tap on the new bell icon at the top of the Home tab on their iPhone.

Easily access your What's New feed by clicking the new bell icon (🔔), located at the top of the Home tab on your phone. A blue dot indicator on the bell icon will let you know at a glance if new songs or episodes have been released since your last visit. What's New also includes filters that allow you to sort for new music releases or new podcast and show episodes, helping you find what you're looking for more quickly.

Spotify says that more than 50,000 hours of content are uploaded to its servers each and every day, meaning there's a ton of music and podcasts out there that people are likely just missing out on. That's bad news for listeners, creators, and Spotify — and this new feature is here to try and stop that from happening.

Whether you're listening on AirPods Max or something more modest, you need that hot new content to keep things fresh. This new feature will help you with that! Speaking of AirPods Max, be sure to check out these great AirPods Max deals before buying some of your very own.

Discoverability is something that Apple Music also suffers from and it's always interesting to see how it and Spotify work to resolve these problems.
