What you need to know
- After a bizarre Apple Music event last week, Kanye's new album was a no-show.
- Now it appears that Donda will be available to stream on August 6.
- The album is unlikely to be an Apple Music exclusive.
Time for another internet meltdown.
After his bizarre live event last week and the subsequent no-show of his new album, it looks like Kanye might have some positive news finally. Donda, that album we all expected to debut last week, is still coming — but not until August 6.
Maybe.
See, Kanye hasn't actually said anything about when the new album will come out. Instead, we're left listening to Justin LaBoy, someone who seems to be inside the Kanye camp as noted by Esquire. According to LaBoy, August 6 is the big day.
KANYE WEST WILL MOVE THE RELEASE DATE OF DONDA TO AUGUST 6TH. THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE ❤️ HE WANTS TO GIVE HIS FANS THE BEST POSSIBLE PRODUCT WITHOUT RUSHING ANYTHING. HE LOVES YALL WITH ALL OF HIS HEART. GOD BLESS 🙏🏾 #DONDA #RESPECTFULLY

Also of note is another tweet of LaBoy's that suggests the new album will be coming to multiple streaming services, not just Apple Music. That wouldn't be all that surprising despite Apple Music streaming the odd events of last week. It's also good news for fans of Spotify and other streaming services, too. It's also possible that LaBoy got things wrong when saying "keep refreshing your music platforms," however. We'll find out when August 6 rolls around, presumably.
The reason for the delayed launch isn't known, but there is a positive to it all. You now have more time to pick up some new headphones to listen to Donda with. Check out the best AirPods Max deals we could find before placing any orders, though!
