Time to crack out that DAC.
Apple Music listeners in India now have something new to listen to after Apple started to roll out support for lossless audio as well as spatial audio and Dolby Atmos support.
The feature, which has been available in other parts of the world for a few weeks now, allows listeners to enjoy higher quality audio streams as well as 3D spatial audio in what Apple believes is the next big shift in the way we listen to music.
The new Apple Music rollout was shared on Twitter and spotted by 9to5Mac.
Rejoice Apple Music India users! The wait for Spatial Audio is finally over it seems… Dolby Atmos & Hi-Res/Lossless Audio support is finally rolling out to users in India. It has probably reached all your Apple Devices and Android app too. Lemme know if you’ve got it. 😄 pic.twitter.com/B9ogIAaLpV

While support for lossless audio is great news for the small portion of the planet that can both hear the difference and have the specialist hardware needed to support it, spatial audio is a different beast altogether. Listeners only need a pair of headphones to enjoy the feature, although it is only available on a relatively small number of tracks across the entire Apple Music library.
This is what Apple had to say when the feature was first announced in May.
Apple is bringing Spatial Audio with support for Dolby Atmos to Apple Music. Dolby Atmos is a revolutionary, immersive audio experience that enables artists to mix music so the sound comes from all around and from above. By default, Apple Music will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks on all AirPods and Beats headphones with an H1 or W1 chip, as well as the built-in speakers in the latest versions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Music will be adding new Dolby Atmos tracks constantly and will be curating a special set of Dolby Atmos playlists to help listeners find the music they love. In addition, albums that are available in Dolby Atmos will have a badge on the detail page for easy discovery.
Need some headphones to take it all in? These are the best AirPods Max deals we've seen to date.
