What you need to know
- Apple will reportedly make the new 11-inch iPad Pro available for sale from May 22.
- The same report has the 12.9-inch iPad Pro available from May 21.
It isn't clear why the different dates.
Apple will make its new 11-inch iPad Pro available for sale on May 22, according to leaker Jon Prosser. But oddly, the same tweet also says that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be available a day earlier – starting May 21.
There is currently no explanation as to why the two different devices would go on sale on different days.
Kinda weird... but this is what I’m hearing 🤔

iPad Pro launch
11” - May 22
12.9” - May 21
Apple announced the two refreshed iPad Pro models during its Spring Loaded event last week with pre-orders going live this coming Friday, April 30. However, Apple did also say that the tablets wouldn't be ready to ship until the second half of May – fitting in well with Prosser's claims. But, again, the difference in launch days makes little sense. It's possible Apple is trying to limit the number of people heading to Apple Stores on any given day, but it seems highly unlikely given the low sales numbers of iPad Pro when compared with a new iPhone, for example.
May 22 is also a Saturday, a day that Apple doesn't tend to release products on if only due to shipment problems on a weekend. I'd suggest taking this one with a pinch of salt for now, at the very least.
Once the new 12.9-inch iPad does go on sale, it's sure to be the best iPad for graphic designers yet thanks to its large Mini-LED screen.
