Some will get to track things before the rest of us.
What you need to know
- AirTag preorders are arriving early for some customers.
- The item tracker is set to officially launch on Friday, April 30.
At least some Apple fans are getting to use AirTag before everyone else.
As reported by MacRumors, a customer who had preordered a 4-pack of AirTags received them today, two days ahead of their official launch on Friday, April 30.
MacRumors reader Johnny sent us a series of photos of his AirTags that he already has in hand, giving us a look at the packaging and a real-life look at the AirTags themselves outside of reviews.
9to5Mac also had a reader reach out to inform the outlet that they have received their 4-pack of AirTags already.
The customer told 9to5Mac that he ordered the 4-pack AirTag from Best Buy on Friday and that the product was shipped on Monday, April 26. He also shared with us some images and even a short video demonstrating the unboxing of the product.
Apple originally announced AirTags at its 'Spring loaded' event last week.
Apple today introduced AirTag, a small and elegantly designed accessory that helps keep track of and find the items that matter most with Apple's Find My app. Whether attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, or other items, AirTag taps into the vast, global Find My network and can help locate a lost item, all while keeping location data private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption. AirTag can be purchased in one and four packs for just $29 and $99, respectively, and will be available beginning Friday, April 30.
You can still preorder AirTag on the Apple Store website and the Apple Store app. It will also be available at your local Apple Store on Friday, April 30.

AirTag is Apple's new item tracker that, with the power of the Find My app, helps you keep track of all of the things that are most important in your life.
