Is there Monster Hunter Rise DLC in the pipeline? We have the answer.

Best answer: Yes. Monster Hunter Rise will feature a steady stream of paid and free DLC updates, with the first update set to arrive in late April.

Rise to the occasion

Capcom has just released the latest entry in their popular monster hunting series, Monster Hunter Rise, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. The multiplayer series has garnered a huge following on Nintendo's hardware, and for good reason — it's really fun to hunt monsters with your friends. The newest entry borrows from the concepts introduced in 2018's Monster Hunter World and builds upon them, and uses Capcom's RE ENGINE to deliver some of the best visuals on the Nintendo Switch.

With plenty of monsters to slay and weapons and armor to craft, there's plenty to do in the base game, but you can never have too much of a good thing, right? While players sink their teeth into the new game, one question seems to be on everyone's mind — will there be DLC? The answer to that is yes, and the first major update arrives in April.

The hunt is far from over

Like Monster Hunter World before it, Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Rise will receive a steady stream of free updates during the game's lifespan. These DLC updates will increase the monster roster, as well as add other new elements. The first update comes in late April and includes Chameleos, a monster first introduced in Monster Hunter 2. Chameleos can camouflage themselves, and their breath can ruin a player's visibility.

In addition to Chameleos, Apex Rathalos will also be added. It's one of the most well-known monsters from the series and even made an appearance in the last Monster Hunter Rise demo. Apex Rathalos seems to be a part of a Rampage hunt, a blend of traditional Monster Hunter gameplay with a tower defense game. Apex monsters are super-strong versions of monsters that appear at the end of the challenge.

Monster Hunter Rise also features a paid DLC pack that includes armor for your Palico and Palamute, hairstyles, and various other cosmetics. Items can be bought individually or together in a pack for $20. Monster Hunter World featured lots of paid and free DLC, and judging from how successful Monster Hunter Rise's launch has been, we can expect a lot more where this came from. Monster Hunter Rise is already one of the best games on the Nintendo Switch, so now's the perfect time to join your fellow hunters on the hunt.
