The iPhone 6 Plus will become a vintage product at the end of this year

What you need to know

  • The iPhone 6 Plus will soon become a vintage Apple product.
  • The phone was Apple's "Plus" iPhone.

RIP to the first "Plus" iPhone.

The iPhone 6 Plus has lived its life and it is time to accept the end.

As reported by MacRumors, to celebrate the five-year anniversary of the model's launch, the iPhone 6 Plus will be added to Apple's vintage products list on December 31.

In an internal memo obtained by MacRumors, Apple said it will be adding the iPhone 6 Plus to its vintage products list on December 31, meaning that more than five years have passed since Apple stopped distributing the device for sale.

As a vintage product, owners of the iPhone 6 Plus are still eligible to have their phone serviced at Apple and the company's wide range of third-party repair shops.

Owners of iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac, or Apple TV products may obtain service and parts from Apple service providers, including Apple Retail Stores and Independent Repair Providers, for a minimum of 5 years from when Apple last distributed the product for sale.

Service and parts may be obtained for longer, as required by law or for up to 7 years, subject to parts availability. Additionally, Mac notebooks may be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period for up to 10 years from when the product was last distributed for sale, subject to parts availability.

Bottom line: The iPhone 13 is the best iPhone for most people, with impressive new cameras and notable improvements to battery life. Without all the bells and whistles of the Pro line, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are still powerhouses that'll keep owners happy for years to come.
