They reveal some really neat behind-the-scenes clues about filming and a striking fact about Steinfeld and character Emily Dickinson that created a special bond between the two. Apple says that star Jane Krakowski was "not okay filming her scene with a mouse" but powered through by pretending it was a "showbiz mouse" that "would be trained and might take a break at craft service or something." Apple says that Samuel Farnsworth (George Gould) secretly wore a locket with Emily Dickinson's picture in it during all of his scenes to help channel his characters love for her.
Apparently the costumes in Dickinson took a whopping 200 hours to make, designer Jennifer Moeller stating "I often get asked where we get the clothes... It makes me laugh because there is no 1860s section at Saks. We make everything."
For the dancing scenes in Pfaff's bar in season three, Steinfeld apparently told the director and asked him to play random songs the cast weren't expecting for the dancing scenes, and told the behind-the-scenes show "sure enough, there was a moment where all of us break out into what feels like we're suddenly in a music video."
The show also reveals that Hailee Steinfeld's birthday is just one day removed from Dickinson's (December 11 and December 10 respectively) creating a special bond between the characters. Steinfeld said in the doc that "there's something about this particular human that continues to amaze me and fascinate me."
The behind-the-scenes look and all three seasons of Dickinson are available to stream now on Apple TV+ on all of Apple's best iPhones, iPads, Macs, and the Best TVs for Apple TV 2022.
